New concrete on a bad base is just a slower crack.
Most companies pour and leave. Before we break ground we test the site to find out why the old slab failed — then we fix that first. The usual suspects:
- Sub-base never compacted — the ground settles, the slab follows.
- Wrong concrete mix for the load and the Georgia climate.
- Water added on site to make finishing easier. It weakens the pour.
- Missing or misplaced reinforcement — steel in the wrong spot does nothing.
- Weight beyond the slab's design — trucks, RVs, dumpsters.
